Pair of embroidered bracelets, gilt clasps.
18th century English Georgian or French Louis XVI signet fob seal in gold setting for attaching to a fob chain or a chatelaine. It shows the Greek/Roman mythological scene of the beautiful boy, Ganymede, being abducted by Zeus in the form of an eagle. Zeus brought Ganymede to the home of the gods on Olympus, there to become the gods' taster. The scene is intaglio carved into quartz.
Lovely striped stone, though chipped, intaglio measuring 2.5" x 2" with scene depicting hero figure, possibly Hercules engaged in a battle with another figure. The other figure isn't as visible but you can make out an arm, leg, tail and a bit of a head. Date unknown.
These are examples of mostly 19th century brooches, necklaces, rings, pendants, accessories and tiaras.
